Education Series #4 marked the beginning of the golf season in the Kootenays, as 20 people attended the event highlighted by presentations from Jaden Sterling, Peter Smith and Jeremy Johnson.
The morning event was followed by the first event in the Kootenays Pro Series, as many of the same seminar participants got out to play the championship Riverside course at Fairmont Hot Springs.
Sterling opened the event with his talk on "People + Opportunities x Money: A Winning Formula for Success"
Sterling talked about how he accomplished a 20 year goal in 6 years. By age 26, he was ranked in the top 1% of income earners in the United States and by age 31, he retired from Corporate America. Jaden is one of the top success experts in North America, working closely with entrepreneurs assisting them to take their already successful business to the next level.
Originally from Edinburgh, Scotland, Smith has been a long-standing member of the PGA of Canada since 1976 and in 2005 was recognized as the PGA of BC Club Professional of the Year. His resume includes heading facilities such as the Radium Hot Springs Resort and Greywolf Golf Course, as well as receiving his MBA from the Royal Roads University. Smith's varied experiences made him uniquely qualified to talk about effective budgeting techniques for golf professionals and their facilities.
The final speaker was Fairmont Hot Springs host head professional Jeremy Johnson, one of the Columbia Valley's leading golf professionals. Jeremy's presentation was an interactive, outdoor session that provided insight into the use of radar on the teaching tee. Jeremy enlisted the help of Alec Hubert and Chris Medford, seen in the cover photo, to help him show how to teach with radar.
This event marks the end of the Spring 2014 Education Series. Stay tuned for more education events, tentatively scheduled for later in 2014 or early 2015.
