Colwood, B.C. (PGA of BC) - After a first round that saw over twenty players sit within three shots of the lead heading into Tuesday's final round, Gordy Scutt of Olympic View Golf Club edged out the competition to claim the 2016 TaylorMade and adidas Golf PGA of BC Championship presented by Axis Insurance Managers hosted at Royal Colwood Golf Club.
"It was just a really good round," said Scutt after his win. "I struggled a bit off the tee yesterday, but today I really got the driver going and hit a lot of fairways. So I was able to do that, plus made a couple putts at the end which was really fortunate."
Scutt has had a successful 2016 season thus far, after numerous wins on the Vancouver Island Pro Tour he currently leads their Order of Merit. "I won one of the last [VIPT events], so that gives you the confidence that you can play. With a field like this it's nice to see if you can try to step in and up your game, or at least see if you can try to compete, and I was happy to do so." Scutt also claimed the PGA of BC Champion title at Point Grey Golf and Country Club in 2014.
Scutt claimed the Champion title by one stroke, shooting rounds of 71-67, over Phil Jonas (Hazelmere Golf & Tennis Club) and Luke Bogdan (Ledgeview Golf Club). For his win, Scutt takes home the Winner's Cheque of $6,000. The tied pair each take home $3,725 for their runner-up finish.
The PGA of BC Women's Championship trophy was also contended for this week. Awarded to the low female competitor in the field, Leila Harman of Meadow Gardens Golf Club shot 80-75 to claim the trophy for the fourth time, having won before in 2011, 2010, and 2003.

ABOUT TAYLORMADE AND ADIDAS GOLF
In the spring of 1979 a golf equipment salesman named Gary Adams took out a $24,000 loan on his home and founded the TaylorMade Golf Company. Counting him, there were three employees and a single, innovative product: a 12-degree driver cast of stainless steel. This new metalwood looked and sounded different from a wooden wood, and most important, it performed differently. Adams, the son of a golf professional, was adamant that TaylorMade clubs maintain ties to what true golfers perceived an authentic golf club should look and feel like. They were committed to combining innovation with authenticity, to always be passionate about the game, and pledged to be competitive - to work hard to establish itself and grow.
The same values singled out 30 years ago by Gary Adams are still revered and practiced today at TaylorMade and adidas Golf as we continue to deliver products that help players of all skill levels reach their potential. Since 1979 our mission has remained the same: Create the Best Performing Golf Products in the World. To learn more, please click here.
