What is the most rewarding part about being a member of the PGA of BC?
Being able to help our members in any which way possible. Also, being able to help mentor my Assistant Professionals on their journey to becoming Class "A" Professionals.
At which golf facility did you first begin working within the industry, and who was the PGA Professional?
I began working in the industry in 2009 at the Glen Arbour Golf Course in Halifax N.S. - Cory Zinck was our PGA Professional.
Who has influenced your career the most, and how?
When it comes to playing the game, Greg Machtaler. When it comes to working within the industry, Jason Sweeney. Jason has always been there with the right piece of advice, regardless of the situation, throughout my time with the PGA.
What career path led you to where you are today?
Always wanting to improve not only my golf game. But always wanting to have a better understanding of the industry, and learning new ways to help improve serving members, as well as teaching students the game itself.
Which significant accomplishments are you most proud of?
Achieving my Class "A" status within the PGA of Canada
If you had to share one piece of advice with a new member of our Association, what would it be?
Enjoy every step of your process on the way to obtaining whichever career goals that you may have in mind. It goes by quicker then you can imagine.
What is your most cherished golf memory?
Shooting in the 60's for the first time.
What is your favourite golf course in British Columbia, and why?
I would have to say Sagebrush. The layout itself is one of the most enjoyable that I have played, not only in BC, but in Canada.
What is a common misconception that golfers make about what your job entails?
How much we as Pro's get out to play the game on a regular basis.
What is an interesting fact about yourself that doesn't involve golf?
I can never get enough of splitboard touring throughout the winter months.
