Brian brings a philosophy to learning that encompasses the individual. Everyone has their own strengths and weaknesses, and he believes in nurturing those strengths and developing programs that meet the needs and goals of each student that he encounters. His background in golf comes from the Rocky Mountains where, as a teen, he captured the 1984 Banff Springs Club Championship. That victory was cultivated from a pure love of the game, and led to even more interest in golf as a profession. Schooling and workshops followed fast and furious, as he joined the Canadian PGA as an apprentice at Victoria Golf Club. Having developed a knowledge base for teaching at Victoria Golf Club and Shaughnessy Golf and Country Club in Vancouver, he further prepared for the lesson tee at Jack McLaughlin's Golf School for Golf Professionals. In the spring of 1988 he began his career as a teacher at Victoria Golf Club. He took the responsibility seriously, and still does. Many of the programs that he has had a hand in developing at Cordova Bay Golf Course have been unique in their approach, with an emphasis on learning to play the game, not just learning the mechanics of a golf swing. Brian's philosophy as a coach is to keep listening, keep learning. Specialties: All aspects of teaching/coaching golf, including full swing, short game, self-management, game management, and clubfitting. Customer service, leadership, communication and marketing are also part of a varied skill set.
