Golf Canada has confirmed that Amateur Status has been violated when the candidate signs the PGA of Canada membership application form.
Candidates do not lose their amateur status:
- When registering as an Applicant with the National Office
- If they do not pass the Playing Ability Test.
Tournament organizers determine eligibility. Candidates should contact the tournament organizers and explain their situation clearly to determine whether or not they can participate. Questions concerning amateur status should be directed to Golf Canada or the provincial amateur body.
Please note that Amateur status is not automatic upon a PGA of Canada member’s resignation. To regain Amateur status upon leaving the Association, a former PGA of Canada member would have to officially apply through Golf Canada (a mandatory waiting period is applicable).
