Any Member/Apprentice/Candidate for Membership may apply at any time that he/she is in good standing and is not indebted to the Association in any manner whatsoever, for a Leave of Absence. This Leave of Absence shall have a twelve-month time limit and must be pre-approved. Approval for a Leave of Absence is at the sole discretion of the National Board. Any Zone privileges for members granted a Leave will be determined by the Zone Board.
Options for Leave of Absence are:
- Medical (must be supported by medical documentation attesting to the necessity for the leave)
- Maternity Leave (must be supported by medical documentation attesting to the necessity for the leave)
- Sabbatical (must be supported by proof of enrolment in an educational program)
Members on Leave of Absence do not pay membership dues however, they must pay insurance premiums to ensure they are properly protected while on Leave. No reinstatement fees apply. Upon return, pro-rated membership dues will be charged based on the month of reactivation.
A Member on a Leave of Absence shall not be eligible to enter nationally conducted tournaments and shall not be entitled to vote at any Annual General Meeting or special general meeting or hold office as a Director of the Association. A Candidate for Membership on a Leave cannot participate in TCCP, or work on the core competencies. The time on Leave will be added back to the six year maximum to complete the program.
Members on a Leave of Absence will not receive a membership card.
